Calixa is finally old enough to get the Winter Fair. Yesterday was the third time I’ve taken her to see the petting zoo, horse show and superdogs at the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair in Brandon and boy! Did she ever get it! We started in the petting zoo through the farmyard and oooed and ahhhed over the soft baby goats, sweet little bunnies and pleasantly spittle-free llama. Then we moseyed up the winding ramps to the main event- the horse and dog shows. The kids stared wide-eyed as the massive jingling horse teams cantered past and whooped and hollered when the Super Dogs took the stage. I always enjoy the fair but all animals aside I have to admit that my favorite part of the event is the sweet sugar and cinnamon coated mini doughnuts. Mmmmmm, it’s all about food!
